On 14th Septemeber we had First-Ever Angular Conference in Sri Lanka. I was lucky to be selected as one of the speakers at the event. In this blog post I am not going to talk about my talk, but the experience I had at the conference.

Start of the Journey

The entire journey started with a simple tweet from Sajeetharan, he was looking for speakers and I wanted to be a part of this epic journey which was going to be a great success soon. As soon as I saw the tweet, I got in touch with Sajee and within a week I was confirmed as a speaker. I really wanted to be here for 2 reasons.

• I was contributing to Angular from past few months and started my own Meetup in Pune and got the chance to speak at @webstackup Pune. But I was looking to bigger opportunity and this was my chance.
• I really wanted to meet Pankaj Parkar, Nishu Goel, Anchal Bhandari, Sajeetharan and my brother Siddharth Ajmera.

Choosing my Talk

The day I made my first contribution to @ngrx I was in love with it and wanted to speak on the same topic and I was lucky that topic was selected and Sajeetharan gave a green flag to the topic.

While working on my talk I got the PPTs reviewed by Wes Grimes and Tim Deschryver they are 2 people who have helped me a lot with many things related to Angular.

Conference Day

Finally, the day arrived and we were at the venue and I cannot explain the atmosphere it was already flooded with attendees and to be frank I was excited as hell and nervous at the same time. and this is how we made the entry.

Keynote

We were really excited for the keynote, guess who was going to be our keynote speaker none other than Minko Gechev. He gave is insights on What’s coming to Angular Version 9.

The first talk of the day

The conference was divided into 3 parts, the first section was small talks for various topics of 25 min each. and there were 4 workshops of 2 hours each split into 2 parts.

• Jecelyn Yeen Started first with her talk on “Building SEO friendly SPA Apps with Angular” It was really informative, and believe me, it was the best start for the conference.
• Siddharth Ajmera gave us how “Ivy is going to be the Future” of Angular and how earlier view engines were different.
• Nishu Goel presented next on “Creating Libraries In Angular” and she rocked the stage, as usual, I am a big fan of her work, she is really hardworking, and I wish I get a chance to collaborate with her again.
• Mohammad Umari Khan gave us insights on how we can use “Docker for Front-End” and he had a workshop on the same topic. And everyone loved the talk, learned something new.
• Anchal gave us how we can use “Angular Schematics” it was a very informative session.
• Pankaj Parkar was next with “Creating Custom Control in Angular” and I guided us how we can utilize ControlValueAccessor to achieve it.
• Srashti Jain was the “speaker of the day” she owned the entire stage like a rockstar and made people learn and laugh, and you will belive the same once Videos are out, believe me, it is going to be the most entertaining talk of the year.
• Nilesh spoke about “Component Communication” and gave a demo on how we can achieve the same using multiple ways.
• I was the last speaker for the day and spoke about “Getting Started with NgRx”

Closing Note

I believe the conferences are the best way to create a network and getting involved with the community. I made many good friends at the conference and those friends are my true take away from the conference.

The organizing team made there best effort to make sure we were comfortable and worked tirelessly for the past few months. We had speaker dinner and outing planned and we loved the company of everyone.

The true heroes behind the success of the conference are not speakers, but the team which worked day and night to make it possible. And here they are each one of them deserves every credit to make NG Srilanka a successful conference.
